Personal Training Staff

Dan

Dan Knappers

Dan is a former United States Marine and retired Virginia Beach Detective Lieutenant. After 31 years of service to the citizens of Virginia Beach, he retired and went back to school to obtain his certification in personal training. Dan specializes in working with the more mature members of the club through weight resistance training to achieve strength, flexibility and stamina. Every Wednesday and Saturday morning at 10 am, Dan holds a one-hour full body work out for the ladies of the club. This is free to the membership. He has been working out for the past 30 years and is well versed in all the latest techniques. Dan holds degrees in police science, public administration and is a graduate off the FBI National Academy.

Andre

Andre' Owens

After graduating from California State University Sacramento in 1993, Andre truly committed to his personal training career. While in California from 1994-2006, he worked as a personal trainer at 24Hour Fitness, Golds Gym Rancho Cordova, the Sacramento Court Club, the Elk Grove Racquet Club, and for his own company. Andre’s clientele range from people who have never lifted a weight, to athletes wanting to improve fitness for team/individual sports. He came from a heavy athletic background including having played intercollegiate football. He has trained seasoned athletes who want to get bigger, faster, and stronger for an upcoming season, to the beginning athletes getting ready for his or her first season of team/individualized sports.

His training philosophy is super simple. He trys to make training fun. The training programs vary every single session. Andre never wants his clients to get bored with their training, nor does he want to get complacent in training them. He believes in constantly researching new training methods and techniques. He also teaches indoor and outdoor boot camps.

Holly

Holly Colonna

Holly Colonna is an ODU graduate with a B.S. in Exercise Science. She is an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer and an AFAA Certified Group Fitness Instructor, and strongly believes in using exercise as a prescription for a healthier mind and body. Years of working under skilled physical therapists has allowed her to become well-versed in therapeutic exercise. With Holly, your personal training experience will consist of circuit-style programs designed for your individual fitness needs with absolutely no repeater routines. Expect to complete a full-body, high-energy cardio/strength hybrid workout with primary focus on proper form and execution. Your body and mind will thank you as you learn to train smarter, not harder!

Melissa

Melissa Wilson

Melissa Wilson graduated from Radford University with a B.S. in Exercise Sport & Health Education with a concentration in Sports Medicine in 2004. After graduation she went on to work in a cardiac rehab clinic with cardiac and stroke patients. During this time Melissa had the opportunity to work with the Sentara Norfolk General’s Surgical Group as an Exercise Physiologist. Moving on to manage a personal training studio she was able to influence client’s physical fitness practices and make a difference in their quality of life working in a one-on-one environment. While personal training, she decided to further her education and attend the Cayce/Reilly School of Massotherapy. Through the Cayce-Reilly Institute Melissa became proficient in therapeutic massage and pain management. She is now able to combine her knowledge of numerous modalities to provide exceptional service to her clients.

Dan

Suzi Pease

Suzi Pease is an ACE and NSPA certified personal trainer with 8 years of experience. She holds a masters degree in education, but found her passion in teaching fitness, not fractions! She left teaching 19 years ago to raise a family of three boys. When it was time to go back into the work place, she knew it had to be in the health and fitness field. After receiving her personal training certifications, Suzi opened an in home gym where she could give private, personal attention to her clients. Several years later, she had the opportunity to train with a private personal training studio franchise where she trained clients and managed the club for 4 years. She holds certifications in nutrition, triathlon coaching, and weight management. Suzi loves to be a part of transforming her clients lives as they reach their health and fitness goals!
